Yves Saint Laurent was a French Fashion designer, considered one of the greatest and influencial figures in French fashion in the 20th century. Yves Saint Laurent was the first couture house to launch the modern concept of pret a porter (ready to wear) collections for men and women. This enabled the accessibility of the fashion conscience working men and women to be stylish and able to wear YSL designs.
Later in 1999, the company was acquired by the Gucci Group where YSL became repositioned at the top end of the luxury goods markets.
